As part of the STEAM educational philosophy and to be sure to have students prepared for their futures, we encourage students to have a growth mindset so they understand that mistakes and failures help us grow and learn.  Growth mindset is important in the school environment, but equally as important to reinforce in a home setting.  Students who have a growth mindset understand that there are setbacks in their lives, and challenges that they overcome, but they have the perseverance to push through those problems.  When students aren't encouraged to have a growth mindset they feel defeated when something doesn't turn out as they expected, or feel they should give up if they aren't good at something the first time.  Students with a growth mindset are able to adjust to challenge or hardship and continue growing and learning beyond initial defeats.

Growth mindsets support student learning and help to ensure that as they progress through their lives and education they find ways to work through challenges without giving up.

While the concept of growth mindset is fostered at school, it is equally as important that parents support the same strategies at home.
